September Scripture Readings

We are beginning the readings for September in the Psalms. I chose them because they are very personal songs about a person’s relationship with God. As you read a Psalm everyday, ask yourself what it is saying about how you feel about God? Ask yourself, is it describing me? How is it speaking to me? Read it again at the close of the day, asking yourself, How did it apply to my day?

Then in the middle of the month, we will start reading the Gospel of John. For this section of the reading, I want to repeat the directions from last month. I want you to read the passage twice every morning, they are only one chapter long. The first time, read it to find out what is being said. The second time, pray for God to allow the passage to speak to you and then read it to see what God may be saying to you. I would also like you to read it again at the end of the day. At the end of the day, see how it has affected your day or given you some understanding about your daily relationship with God and your family, friends, and co-workers.
